WHP – Newsletter second term 2016
• COLLECTION OF OLD WARM CLOTHES AND BLANKETS. As noted in the diary of events, we will be visiting Refilwe again this term. We held a district event there last year which was successful and this year we have decided to tone it down to two packs visiting at a time. So we will be partnering with the Randpark Ridge Pack. To keep in line with the 100 years of Cubs, we would like White Horse Cubs to collect (as a pack) 100 items of warm clothing and blankets which we can take along with us on the 11th June. Please can you have a look around the house and see if there is anything you have which can be donated towards this worthy cause.
• RECRUITMENT We are still looking for Cubs to join us. Although our numbers have increased a bit we still have some space for additional boys so if anyone knows of any boy wanting to join, please get the parents to give me a call. Please remember that girls are also welcome in the Scouting movement. If you know of any girls wanting to join, let me know and I will put you in touch with the packs or troops.
• INTEREST BADGES If your son has completed all the requirements for an interest badge, please send a letter/email outlining what he has done. If any evidence is required, he needs to bring it along to Cubs. We will then test him (just go over the requirements to ensure there is understanding on the subject). It is not always possible to test the boys on the same day as they bring everything and if we know in advance, then we can plan accordingly. Please ensure that all the ‘evidence’ is clearly marked with his name so that there is no confusion. The badge will be awarded as soon as possible after the testing has been done – this is not usually on the same day as we cannot keep stock of the badges and will need to get the badge from the scout shop.
